The LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings (for 3yos and upwards which raced between 1st January 2025 and 6th July 2025)

FIELD OF GOLD (IRE) [127] and OMBUDSMAN (IRE) [127] have joined FOREVER YOUNG (JPN) [127] as the co-highest rated horses in the world in the fifth edition of the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2025.

Both Field Of Gold and Ombudsman impressed during Royal Ascot. Field Of Gold won the St James's Palace Stakes (G1) by 3 ½ lengths to improve his rating to 127 from 123. He came into the race having won the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas (G1). Ombudsman joins the rankings after defeating ANMAAT (IRE) [123] by 2 lengths in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (G1).
 
In his next start, Ombudsman finished second by neck to DELACROIX (IRE) [126] in the Coral-Eclipse (G1). Delacroix has joined the rankings in the co-fourth position off of that effort. RULING COURT (USA) [121] was 1 ¾ lengths back in third, while CAMILLE PISSARO (IRE) [120] was a head behind in fourth.
 
In France, CALANDAGAN (IRE) [125] improved his rating to 125 from 123 with his 3 ½-length victory in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1). He came into the race having finished second by a half-length to JAN BRUEGHEL (IRE) [125] in the Betfred Coronation Cup (G1).
 
Meanwhile, Field Of Gold and Ombudsman were not the only Royal Ascot winners to impact the rankings. REBEL’S ROMANCE (IRE) [121] improved his rating to 121 from 120 with his victory in the Hardwicke Stakes (G2), while TRAWLERMAN (IRE) [121] and LAZZAT (FR) [120] join the rankings after their wins in the Gold Cup (G1) and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (G1), respectively.
 
Other horses to join the rankings this month include MEISHO TABARU (JPN) [120] and MINDFRAME (USA) [120]. Meisho Tabaru took the Takarazuka Kinen (G1), and Mindframe won the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1).
