His commanding performance in the Coral Eclipse (G1), following on from his earlier classic victories in the Stan James.com 2000 Guineas (G1) and the Investec Derby (G1), has secured his top ranking ahead of the horse he beat at Sandown, RIP VAN WINKLE (IRE) [128]. The latter is rated second top horse in the world just ahead of his stablemate, FAME AND GLORY (GB) [127], who was very impressive in winning the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (G1), and former top horse GLADIATORUS (USA) [127].

CONDUIT (IRE) [125], who was third in the Coral Eclipse (G1), returned to his best form in winning the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) (Sponsored by Betfair) from his stablemates TARTAN BEARER (IRE) [122] and ASK (GB) [121], and he is joined on that mark by crack North American filly ZENYATTA (USA) [125], who retained her unbeaten record when winning the Vanity Handicap (G1) recently.

In Japan, DREAM JOURNEY (JPN) [121] produced the best performance of his career to date when victorious in the Takarazuka Kinen (G1). Other notable performances since the last update have been put up by GIO PONTI (USA) [121], who confirmed himself as top turf horse in North America in winning the Man O’War Stakes (G1), SARISKA (GB) [120], who won the Darley Irish Oaks (G1) in a canter to add to her earlier success in the Investec Oaks (G1) at Epsom, FLEETING SPIRIT (IRE) [119], who assumed the mantle of best sprinting filly or mare in the world with her fine performance in beating the males in the TNT July Cup (G1) and GETAWAY (GER) [119], who put up the best performance seen in Germany in 2009 when winning the Deutschland Preis (G1) last Sunday.
