THE LONGINES WORLD’S BEST RACEHORSE RANKINGS

The official listing of the world’s best racehorses

(For 3yos and upwards which raced between 1st January and 10^th August 2025)

 

There is a quartet of newcomers in the sixth edition of the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2025.

 

 

 

SIERRA LEONE (USA) [120], who was last year’s champion 3-year-old male in the United States, got back to his winning ways when he took the Whitney Stakes (G1) by a length. He came into to the Whitney having finished second to MINDFRAME (USA) [120] in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1).

 

WHIRL (IRE) [120] finds herself ranked after winning the Qatar Nassau Stakes (G1) by 5 lengths. In her previous start, Whirl won the Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes

(G1) by 1 ¼ lengths over KALPANA (GB) [120].

 

As for Kalpana, she finished second by a length behind CALANDAGAN (IRE) [125] in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) in her next start after the Pretty Polly Stakes, and she is ranked off of that effort.

 

Additionally, SAJIR (IRE) [120] is now ranked following his 1 ¾ length-victory over LAZZAT (FR) [120] in the ARC Prix Maurice de Gheest - Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage (G1). In April, Sajir won the Blandford Bloodstock Abernant Stakes (G3).
