Following his victory in the
Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets (G1), SOVEREIGNTY (USA) [125]
has joined the Top 5 in the fourth edition of the LONGINES World’s Best
Racehorse Rankings for 2025 and is currently the highest rated
3-year-old in the world.

Sovereignty won the Belmont by 3 lengths over JOURNALISM (USA)
[120], and in doing so, he raised his rating to 125 from 121. He had
previously defeated Journalism by 1 1/2 lengths in the Kentucky Derby
presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). Journalism then went on to win the Preakness
Stakes (G1) before finishing second in the Belmont, and his rating has
increased to 120 from 119.
JAN BRUEGHEL (IRE) [124] joins the rankings in the co-sixth position, following his
victory in the Betfred Coronation Cup (G1). He defeated CALANDAGAN
(IRE) [123] by a half-length.
FIELD OF GOLD (IRE) [123] and LOS ANGELES (IRE) [123] are also in the co-eighth
position on a rating of 123. Field of Gold won the Tattersalls Irish 2,000
Guineas (G1) by 3 3/4 lengths to improve his rating to 123 from 120.
He previously finished second in the Betfred 2000 Guineas Stakes (G1), a
half-length behind RULING COURT (USA) [121]. Los Angeles won the Tattersalls
Gold Cup (G1) by a half-length over ANMAAT (IRE) [122] to earn his
rating. He came into the race off a victory in the Coolmore Stud City Of Troy Irish EBF Mooresbridge
Stakes (G2), where he defeated WHITE BIRCH (GB) [120] by a neck.
In Hong Kong, VOYAGE BUBBLE (AUS) [121] won the Standard
Chartered Champions & Chater Cup (G1) to become the first Triple Crown
winner there in over 30 years. In doing so, he also improved his rating to 121
from 120.
Meanwhile, a number of horses are now rated at 120. ANTINO (NZ)
[120] won the XXXX Doomben Cup (G1); CROIX
DU NORD (JPN) [120] took the Tokyo Yushun
(Japanese Derby) (G1); JANTAR MANTAR (JPN) [120] proved victorious
in the Yasuda Kinen (G1); LAMBOURN (IRE) [120] won the Betfred
Derby (G1); LEAD ARTIST (GB) [120] claimed the BoyleSports
Lockinge Stakes (G1); RAGING TORRENT (USA)
[120] won the Hill 'n' Dale Metropolitan Handicap (G1); and SOSIE
(IRE) [120] took the Prix d'Ispahan (G1).
