The World's Leading Horses at 31st March 2005

Performances from 1st October 2004 to 31st March 2005.

The latest update of the World's Top Ranked Horses for the racing period from 1st October 2004 to the end of March 2005 sees no change at the top with GHOSTZAPPER still ranked at number 1 following his victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic last October.

The period under review includes the Breeders' Cup meeting, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Japan Cup and Hong Kong International Races, Dubai International Racing Carnival and both the Spring and Autumn Carnivals in Australia.

Since the last publication in January the major changes have concerned horses currently racing in Australia, U.A.E and U.S.A.

Following his win in the 2005 Dubai World Cup, ROSES IN MAY is ranked at equal fifth with the unbeaten SILENT WITNESS and PICO CENTRAL. The US-trained SAINT LIAM makes a big improvement in the list jumping from 36th position in January to equal 8th in the present list following his win in the Donn Handicap.

Several Australian trained horses have also made significant progress in the list, GRAND ARMEE moves up to 19th (from 36th) after winning five Group One races in the present season. Back to back Melbourne Cup winner MAKYBE DIVA appears in the list for the first time at number 19 and Dubai Duty Free winner ELVSTROEM come in at number 24.

Other notably horses making the list for the first time and currently racing are US trained ROCK HARD TEN at 14th, LEROIDESANIMAUX at 24th, and DECLAN"S MOON at number 36, along with FASTNET ROCK from Australia.

On the Fillies & Mares front, MAKYBE DIVA's great season with three major Group One wins to her credit sees her now ranked the number two female behind another multiple Group One winning filly, OUIJA BOARD.

The World's Top Ranked Horses are compiled by the World Rankings Supervisory Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA).

The next listing will be published early in August.
